CT HEART SCAN (CALCIUM SCORE) LONDON

The CT Heart Scan is a quick non-invasive test to assess the presence and location of calcified or hardened plaques in the arteries of your heart.

Calcified plaque results when there is a build-up of fat and other substances under the inner layer of an artery. This material can calcify which signals the presence of atherosclerosis, a disease of the vessel wall, also called Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). People with this disease have an increased risk for heart attacks.

The main goal of the CT Heart Scan is to determine if Coronary Artery Disease is present and to what extent, even if a patient is asymptomatic. It is a really powerful diagnostic tool that can help you avoid more serious heart complications. The scan is a quick, painless, non-invasive procedure.

This scan is recommended if you have any of these risk factors:

  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • High cholesterol
  • Family history of stroke or heart disease
  • Recent transient ischaemic attached (TIA) or stroke
  • Coronary Artery Disease

At the London Centre for Advanced Cardiology, we can offer same-day appointments for your CT Heart Scan in Harley Street, London’s top medical district.

Our CT Calcium Score also includes a free visualisation of the lungs, which will be added to your report.

On the day of your appointment, you will be given a CD containing the images of your scan. Once the images have been reviewed by a Consultant Radiologist, you will be sent a full written report including any recommendations, if necessary. Should you like to discuss your results with a specialist, we can organise a consultation promptly. The whole appointment should take no longer than an hour.
